AEW’s Eddie Kingston Shares Injury Update, Talks About Not Being Needed in AEW Right Now

Former AEW Continental Champion Eddie Kingston is currently on the road to recovery after suffering a serious knee injury, and his dedicated fanbase is eagerly awaiting his return to the ring. Reports have indicated that Kingston will be sidelined until the spring of 2025, which would mark nearly a full year away from action.

During a recent appearance on The DAVINci Report, Kingston discussed his recovery and shared his target return date. Despite his strong desire to get back to wrestling, he’s prioritizing a full recovery.

“The injury originally happened in May [2024]. I’d like to be back around May [2025], maybe even April, but I’m not rushing it,” Kingston said, highlighting his cautious approach to recovery.

Kingston explained that one of the reasons he’s not rushing back is due to AEW’s current strength and momentum, suggesting that the promotion is thriving without him for the moment.

“To be honest, AEW doesn’t really need me at this point. They’re doing their thing, and I feel like if I came back now, I might mess up some plans. I love stirring things up, but at the same time, I’m trying to be a company guy. I don’t want to disrupt what they’ve got going on too much,” Kingston shared, revealing his willingness to prioritize the company’s direction over a quick return.

Kingston also commented on recent happenings within AEW, mentioning that he had noticed a shift in Jon Moxley’s attitude. He usually stays in touch with Moxley through regular text messages, but their recent lack of communication raised a red flag for Kingston.

Though eager to return, Kingston is staying patient and focused on healing, ensuring that when the time comes, he’ll be back at full strength to make an impact in AEW once again.
