Tony Khan Assesses Darby Allin’s Place In AEW & Pro Wrestling

Darby Allin, a former AEW Tag Team Champion, has rapidly risen to prominence within AEW’s main event scene in 2024. His involvement in marquee matches like “Anarchy in the Arena,” “Blood and Guts,” and Sting’s retirement bout at AEW Revolution has solidified his position. But the stakes are about to get even higher for Allin. In the coming weeks, he faces Jon Moxley at the Grand Slam edition of “AEW Dynamite” on September 25, followed by a potential clash with Bryan Danielson at WrestleDream on October 12.

AEW President Tony Khan recognizes Allin’s significance. During a recent appearance on “Busted Open Radio,” Khan emphasized Allin’s pivotal role since AEW’s inception. Now, as Allin steps into Grand Slam, challenging for an opportunity to vie for the AEW World Championship in his home state, Khan acknowledges the gravity of the moment. Notably, Washington state has produced two wrestling legends: current world champion Bryan Danielson and the tenacious Darby Allin.

Regarding Allin’s ongoing feud with Jon Moxley, Khan doesn’t mince words. He considers it not only the most compelling storyline within AEW but also one of the most captivating narratives in the entire wrestling industry. According to Khan, Jon Moxley is currently the most intriguing and vital star in wrestling today.
