Trick Williams Regains WWE NXT Championship on CW Premiere
“WWE NXT” celebrated its debut on the CW Network with an exhilarating NXT Championship match featuring Ethan Page and Trick Williams. Adding to the excitement, former WWE Champion CM Punk served as the special guest referee, promising to officiate the match fairly. In a thrilling conclusion, Williams triumphed, basking in the celebration of streamers falling around him.
As the match approached its climax, Williams executed a powerful knee strike that sent Page crashing off the ropes and into a pinning position. The final moments mirrored a similar ending from the “NXT Heatwave” event. Both competitors were visibly exhausted, prompting Punk to assist them back to their feet. Page retaliated with two kicks to Williams, who countered with an uppercut followed by a uranage. In a surprising turn, Page connected with Punk’s signature move, the GTS. However, Williams managed to kick out, leaving Page frustrated.
Desperate to secure victory, Page attempted an Ego’s Edge, but Williams swiftly escaped his grasp and hit a Trick Shot for the pinfall victory. To add insult to injury, Punk delivered a GTS to Page after the match, with Williams standing triumphantly over his newly regained and redesigned NXT Championship.
With this victory, Williams begins his second reign as NXT Champion, while Page’s title run concludes after 86 days.
In other highlights from the show, NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez successfully defended her redesigned title, aided by a returning Cora Jade, who took out Giulia with a ringside DDT while the referee was distracted.
