Tommy Dreamer Suggests Creative Finish for AEW WrestleDream World Title Match
Following Jon Moxley’s victory at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, he has earned a shot at the AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson at the upcoming AEW WrestleDream. Danielson, who has expressed his intent to transition to part-time in-ring competition once he loses the title, faces speculation that his reign could end in his home state of Washington at WrestleDream. ECW legend Tommy Dreamer recently shared his thoughts on how the match could unfold during an episode of Busted Open Radio.
“I don’t think you have to follow the usual win-lose format for this one,” Dreamer explained. “When you consider the moves involved, like the DDT or when [Danielson] applies that choke, those both target the neck. It creates a powerful moment. If you want to go the Arnold Skaaland route, imagine if his wife, Brie [Garcia], comes down and throws in the towel. That would generate massive heat.”
Dreamer suggested that Brie Garcia, Danielson’s wife, could play a pivotal role in the match’s finish by throwing in the towel, harkening back to classic wrestling moments. He also proposed another possibility—ending the AEW World Championship match with a disqualification, courtesy of Moxley. As a newly turned heel, Moxley is known for his underhanded and extreme tactics, even going as far as suffocating Danielson with a plastic bag during their AEW All Out clash.
“If Moxley interferes in a dirty way, it sets up a great opportunity for the babyfaces to rally,” Dreamer continued. “In real life, how can you not root for Bryan Danielson? There’s a whole locker room of people who would fight for him both in reality and on-screen. That opens up a lot of different storylines to explore.”
With Danielson nearing a reduced schedule and Moxley now fully embracing his darker side, Dreamer’s proposed finishes—whether involving Brie Garcia or a disqualification—add layers of drama and intrigue that could take the WrestleDream main event in various directions.
