San Antonio Royal Rumble Agreement Provides Insight Into WWE Exclusivity

WWE recently concluded a legal battle aimed at keeping the details of its negotiations with San Antonio, Texas, regarding the 2023 Royal Rumble under wraps. With the suit now dropped, the full agreement between WWE and San Antonio has been made public.

According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, the unredacted contract includes an addendum outlining the exclusivity terms for the Alamodome, the venue for the event. The addendum stipulates that the venue is prohibited from advertising or hosting any wrestling events 90 days prior to the scheduled WWE event and for 60 days afterward. Additionally, the venue cannot promote or host wrestling events while tickets for the WWE event are still on sale.

Given that tickets for major WWE events like the Royal Rumble typically go on sale well before the 90-day exclusivity window begins, this effectively extends the exclusivity period for the Alamodome, ensuring WWE maintains a stronghold on the venue during critical promotional periods.
