Jeff Hardy Opens Up About His Sobriety and Its Impact on Performance
Jeff Hardy is a legendary figure in the world of professional wrestling, known for his death-defying stunts, unpredictable antics, and unwavering passion. However, his remarkable career has not been without its challenges, as he has long battled addiction and personal demons. Recently, Hardy shared insights into his journey toward recovery and the profound effects sobriety has had on both his life and career during an appearance on Busted Open Radio.
“I’m clear-minded to be sober, innovative Jeff Hardy. It’s almost child-like, the feeling of how it felt before I ever gave in to drugs or alcohol,” Hardy explained. He reflected on the early days of his wrestling career, saying, “We were obsessed with pro wrestling; that was it. That was our main concern. And that obsession became our dream that came true as pro wrestlers. I feel like I’m back there in an older body, but I think a lot more with my heart now, instead of my mind.”
As Hardy delved deeper into his experiences, it became clear that his sobriety has not only revitalized his personal life but also positively influenced his in-ring performance. He attributes part of his success to his new reliance on ice baths, which have become an essential component of his recovery routine.
“I try my best not to let my mind play tricks on me, and the ice baths have been helping incredibly,” Hardy shared. “I’m totally addicted to ice baths now, instead of alcohol or drugs, and I love it. The first time I went underwater in an ice bath, I was like, ‘Whoa … there’s something to this.'”
As Hardy continues on his path toward recovery and self-discovery, he has recently reunited with his brother, Matt, in TNA, following their respective departures from AEW. This reunion marks a new chapter in Hardy’s journey, as he embraces both his sobriety and his passion for professional wrestling.
