Eric Bischoff Comments on JBL’s Recent Activities Across Wrestling Companies
WWE Hall of Famer John “Bradshaw” Layfield, known as JBL, has been making surprise appearances across various wrestling promotions in recent weeks, a departure from his perceived status as a WWE stalwart. This unexpected tour has seen him on shows for AAA, GLW, MLW, and TNA, while notably absent from WWE’s televised programs. Although JBL hasn’t publicly discussed his intentions, former WCW executive Eric Bischoff shared insights on his “83 Weeks” podcast regarding his friend’s motivations.
Bischoff noted that JBL’s financial success suggests these appearances aren’t driven by money. “If it’s not financial, you’re left with two possibilities,” Bischoff speculated. “He could be doing it purely for the enjoyment of performing, which I understand—it’s thrilling to entertain unannounced and get an immediate crowd reaction. However, if it’s happening repeatedly, it could also indicate a larger strategic plan unfolding behind the scenes.”
Regarding speculation about JBL potentially appearing in AEW, Bischoff acknowledged fan interest but clarified that Layfield is currently under contract with WWE as a Hall of Famer. The nature of JBL’s recent unannounced appearances leaves fans guessing where he might show up next.
