Bully Ray Says This WWE Star’s Signature Move Can Lead to an “Ugly Bump”
The spear is a signature move many top stars have perfected, from Edge to Roman Reigns. Now, Bron Breakker, a former Intercontinental Champion, has added his own hard-hitting version of the move to his arsenal. Most recently, Breakker unleashed three brutal spears on Jey Uso and The New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods during “WWE Raw.” While delivering the spear is a challenge, Bully Ray, WWE Hall of Famer and host of “Busted Open Radio,” believes that taking it is just as difficult—especially when it comes to Breakker’s version.
Bully Ray on the Challenge of Taking a Spear
Bully Ray emphasized that wrestlers train their bodies to absorb moves safely, but Breakker’s spear, particularly when performed on the floor, is an entirely different beast.
“That spear, you know it’s coming. You see it’s coming,” Bully Ray explained. “You have time to think about it. But staying in position to take that spear on the floor, the same way you would in the ring, is nearly impossible. If you go back and watch anyone who’s taken Breakker’s spear on the floor, none of them take it pretty.”
According to Bully Ray, one reason the spear becomes more dangerous outside the ring is that wrestlers can’t stay relaxed on a hard surface the way they would inside the ring. The impact is harder, and the body tenses up just before the hit, making it an “ugly bump.”
“You know it’s going to hit you, but you also know the fall on the concrete is going to be worse,” he added.
Breakker Targets Jey Uso After Losing His Title
It seems Breakker’s brutal spears won’t stop anytime soon. After losing the Intercontinental Championship to Jey Uso on “WWE Raw,” Breakker pretended to make peace with his rival. However, after Uso successfully defended his new title against Xavier Woods, Breakker ambushed everyone in sight with more spears, signaling that this feud is far from over.
