Eric Bischoff Praises Powerful Moment in Netflix’s Mr. McMahon Documentary
WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff recently shared his thoughts on a poignant moment from the Netflix docu-series “Mr. McMahon.” In particular, Bischoff praised the opening dialogue narrated by Paul Heyman in episode 5, calling it “powerful as hell.”
The scene Bischoff referred to delves into Vince McMahon’s difficult childhood, recounting his experiences of physical abuse from his stepfather and the sexual abuse he previously disclosed in an interview with “Playboy” magazine. In the docu-series, Heyman explains that McMahon’s response to these traumatic experiences was to rebel, ultimately “creating an atmosphere in which he is untouchable and invulnerable to outside forces.”
Bischoff was struck by Heyman’s delivery of the narrative, saying on his “83 Weeks” podcast, “That opening dialogue, that narrative with Paul Heyman was powerful as hell. Paul is amazing. I don’t think anyone could have delivered those thoughts as artfully and colorfully as Heyman did. There’s a reason Paul is where he is today, and we saw it clearly in that moment.”
Bischoff also reflected on McMahon’s complexity, noting that even before the controversies surrounding him, he had always been curious about what drove McMahon. He emphasized that McMahon’s level of focus, intensity, and commitment is unmatched, but understanding him has always been a challenge, even for those who worked closely with him.
