Dave Meltzer Speculates As To Whether Or Not The Rock Will Work WWE WrestleMania 41

Dave Meltzer’s latest update in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter provides insight into The Rock’s potential involvement at WWE WrestleMania 41. While fans were initially excited about the possibility of a match between The Rock and Cody Rhodes, Meltzer explained that WWE has scrapped that plan. The match, which was teased after WrestleMania 40, was originally scheduled as the main event for one of the nights at WrestleMania 41. However, WWE’s current plan has Rhodes defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against John Cena instead. That being said, Meltzer noted that these plans could shift if The Rock expresses interest in participating.

As for the potential of The Rock facing Roman Reigns, Meltzer confirmed that this is still a possibility, but it is unlikely to happen at WrestleMania 41. He pointed out that the high-paying events, like those in Saudi Arabia, may influence where the match could take place, especially given the lucrative paydays offered to top fighters in boxing and UFC. Despite the change in plans for WrestleMania 41, Meltzer emphasized that the much-anticipated Rock vs. Reigns match is still expected to happen at some point. This is especially true since The Rock himself mentioned in a January 7 WWE NXT appearance that he always thinks “20 steps ahead,” leaving open the door for a future showdown.
